That's no good

Ugh.

Prepare to lose all semblance of local radio.

yep - that is very unsettling. I guess WUGA will be the only thing that will be unique to Athens now. And I thought Southern Broadcasting was bad - we haven't seen anything.

So, we've traded an Athens based corporate radio monopoly for an Atlanta based corporate radio monopoly.

Yawn.

And WUOG. And 100.7.

but it was OUR corporate monopoly. Hillary hit the nail on the head anyway - 100.7 is the answer to all our problems.

60 million clams . . . wow.

They lost me when NGC went to "Moby in the Morning" --- nothing like that good old local morning show.

If you like a pretty good morning show, let me recommend WMOG, broadcasting from beautiful downtown Bostwick --- 92.3 on your FM dial.

I kinda like Moby.

Aside from the jingoism, of course.

Jmac - remind me tonight to tell you my story about what a P.O.S. "Moby" really is . . .

I just hope they leave us w/Tim Bryant's show. I will be very upset if they dump the one really local current event program that airs almost daily. As much as I love WUGA, their only public affairs program, which airs on Thursday afternoons at 4:30 is goofy, imho. We all already read Winders and Pete, and I bet anyone who can listens to Tim every Tuesday thru Friday morning from 9-10 am, too, on WGAU. It's a political junkies dream show.

Tim has been a surprisingly fair and honorable host. Whether you agree w/ his politics, or he w/yours, he does his best to get both sides of the issue at hand out on the air.

I really like going on his show, and rarely miss listening to it. I loved Dick Mendenhall, too, he did exhaustive and amazing research for every show, but Tim has surpassed all expectations.

They would be nuts to end his program and leave us w/Boortz and Limbaugh types in that hour.

Athens is lucky to have Tim and Matt, and I hope if they dump them we will all do what we can to find them another home, here in town. Perhaps WUGA could hire them, and provide more than the minimum news and public affairs required by the FCC for non-profit radio. Or the new Orange Twin radio station could come on the air in time to keep Tim in town. Though I doubt they'll be offering any wages and benefits when they start out...

I'm sorry, but Elizabeth Dalton and Barbara "bless her heart" Dooley are NOT representative of the activism that makes Athens so unique and wonderful. I'm sure they're great gals, but they're not professional radio folks.

Keep Tim Bryant! Good radio is hard to find.
