Happy Birthday to me

Toward the end of my grantwriting class on Tuesday, I looked at the woman sitting next to me and said that come next week I would have to check an entirely different age demographic list.

And that's because today I turn 30 years old (and, I'm not making this up, but I legitimately forgot that today was my birthday when I woke up). Of course, it doesn't promise to be that exciting see how I'm behind on some work projects and my daughter is home for the third straight day with an ear infection (her fourth in two months meaning we're probably on our way to getting some ear tubes).

Happy Birthday!

As I found out not so long ago, 30 is not that bad. 31 is the hard one to swallow because you're officially "in your thirties" at that point.

Happy Birthday, JMac. Add another beer to the list of drinks I owe you . . .

I've had a few nieces and nephews that got ear-tubes, and it was a huge relief for them.

Welcome to your fourth decade. Read the Believer and could offer some pointers, but good job for a debut. I think I know everyone on the masthead

Happy Birthday, JMac! I must concur with Sara's observations of 30 versus 31. Maybe it's something about bracing yourself for 30, so it doesn't seem that bad. Anyhow, congrats.

you big baby!

30 ain't nothing - you just start getting fat and you get hurt more easily and get over more slowly.

I remember my midlife crisis starting at 35, that was a harder number than 30 for me. I'm sorry you're going thru so many changes, w/your daughter sick, and your new business taking up so much of your time.
I am a regular reader, and think you've done a great job keeping this blog rolling. Congratulations, we are lucky to have you here, I especially respect the way you treat those who disagree w/your positions with such respect. It's wonderful to see the movers and shakers in town tuning in to your blog, and discussing key issues in the community with the decision makers.
Bravo, JMac, and all blessings to you and your family as you take on all these stressors, all at once.
I have a niece who's already had the tubes put in her ears, and her personality has changed completely now that she's not in constant pain. I'm sorry your baby will have to have surgery so young, but think it will be a big relief for all involved, Emma in particular, and you and Momma will get some rest.
