This means what?

You know, I'm not a huge fan of Joe Biden anyway, but I'm even more hesitant to support his bid for president after this?:

Biden's appeal for bipartisanship captured Bruce Rippeteau, a former Rotary president who says he's in the Genghis Khan wing of the Republican Party.

Now, I'm not entirely sure what 'the Genghis Khan wing of the Republican Party' looks like, but I've got a hunch it's not something I'd line up with ideologically.

Hence the idea of "bipartisanship," wherein people who do not line up ideologically with one another nonetheless find a way to work together for some political goal they both share. It seems strange, here at a blog whose name means roughly "Everything's Fine" and which makes frequent pleas for moderation and seeing the best in the other side, to refuse to support Biden because in the name of bipartisanship he is able to say things that rightier Republicans might agree with. Just my two yen.

Thanks Capt. Snarky.

My problem wasn't with the notion of working together, but with, well, the fact that he adheres to the foreign policy of an ancient dictator.

If that cancels out my fondness for bipartisanship, than call me an partisan stalwart.

Well, except that the reference was presumably tongue-in-cheek. I mean, nobody today even knows enough about Genghis Kahn to make much of a serious comparison, and besides, Kahn makes no sense in the context of a discussion about immigration dangers. If a person literally shared Kahn's view of immigration, then this would mean something very different than what Biden or Republicandude are talking about in that article.

"What did I think of Biden's speech? Well, let's just say that I'm a wingnut Republican, and a lot of what he said resonated with me. I was impressed." Isn't this probably all RepublicandudewholikedBiden was meaning to say?

Yeah, well, I can't look back at your post when I'm typing my comment, so nicknames are what you get!
