Ah politics
Man oh man, 2008 promises to be pretty darn interesting as James Dobson says he'll get Christian conservatives to back a third-party, pro-life candidate if Rudy Guiliani gets the GOP nomination.
This, of course, would pretty much lock up the White House for a Democrat in 2008 since it would siphon off 10 to 20 percent of the Republican votes. Now all we need is for Ralph Nader, Ross Perot and, oh shoot, Michael Bloomberg to hop in and do this thing right.

Pat Buchanan, too.

I honestly don't think that Ghouliani will get the GOP nomination anyway. But we'll see...
It's wide open, but I see him getting lots of appeal outside the Southeast (which is Fred Thompson territory). Though there are rumblings that the Religious Right wouldn't back Thompson either.
I think you're seriously overestimating the size of Dobson's crowd, and even the likelihood that they'd follow his advice instead of voting against Hillary Clinton.
And yes, I believe Dobson said Giuliani and Thompson - which is going to be your ticket.
I don't think so and by 15 to 20 percent, I mean specifically of the Republican voters (which would probably translate into a single-digit figure nationally).
And Thompson with Guiliani? If it's Rudy, he goes with someone like Huckabee who has executive experience, has ties to the religious community and can pull Southern voters into the mix.
I am open to voting for a third party in 08 if both candidates are hawks. It could happen. I would never, ever vote for a Dobson backed candidate though.
What if Dobson backed an anti-war candidate? (Yeah, right, but what if?)
