Woo-hoo.

Barack Obama wins Wisconsin, apparently by a comfortable margin, and one has to wonder just what Hillary Clinton can do now ... particularly since he's narrowed the gap in Ohio and tied her in Texas.

Aside from that, I was struck with how intellectually shallow and bankrupt John McCain's speech was. Of course, since he's 147, I wasn't expecting much, so there's that.

Wow. A Barack supporter, slamming McCain for a supposed lack of substance.

That is rich.

And neither here nor there, but having attended the NBAF meeting (part of it) last night, I can confirm: Athens is populated by some really crazy people.

Obama vs. McCain. The primaries are actually moving in that direction, and these two have a shot at reposessing their respective parties, in the same election cycle. I hope they both make it.

Accordingly, I think we're looking at an entirely new election if both candidates claim their respective nominations.

Anonymous beat me to it. "Intellectually shallow" sums up Barack Obama's entire campaign.

I loved Chris Matthews last night, asking an Obama supporter (a Texas state senator) to name a single accomplishment of Obama's political career. After much stammering, he admitted he couldn't. "No, I'm not going to be able to do that tonight" were his exact words.

Fantastic.

This whole cycle has turned me, I am afraid, once and for all against democracy. The people have spoken, and they want image and style without very little substance. Some win the beauty contest by being the most beautiful (Obama), others win by taking shrewed advantage of a catfight in which almost everyone is ugly (McCain). But in the end we get what we want, I guess.

The "straight talk express" and the "audacity of hope." I'm sure the first inaugural will be quoted for decades to come. And our 'time of change' will be...more of the same.

Pardon my cynicism. I want a monarch (or something...I'm still mulling it over).
