The bigger picture

Ultimately, I think we're all wasting too much energy into this whole Clinton-Obama thing ... I know I have. It doesn't mean that I still don't firmly stand behind my criticisms of her and her campaign, and it doesn't mean that I'm greatly disappointed with her conduct (nor does it mean I won't be disappointed in the coming weeks).

But, still, it sucks to be disagreeing so vehemently with folks who are regular readers over here, so a truce might be in order I suppose. The sooner that happens, the sooner we can back on agreeing on things we all believe in ... like how silly Chuck is.

Bottom line: nobody gets a free ride to the White House.

At some point, everyone who runs is going be tested. And--American Idol-like--most will fall by the wayside.

I think you think He Whose Middle Name Shall Not Be Spoken should somehow be immune to any push-back whatsoever. That's unrealistic. They all get it, every single one of them.

If I were you, I'd hope he handles it better than you have.

Please Reggie.

There's a distinct difference between fighting back against these charges and voicing concern over the charges themselves (particularly when they come in the middle of a primary campaign, not a general election).

There's also a distinct difference between push-back/scrutiny and ridiculous comments in the context of said primary campaign. I welcome scrutiny of not only Obama, but my positions as well because such things make you tougher.

Why would you think Hillary wouldn't bite, scratch, and claw in an attempt to win the nomination? Frankly, as a Republican, I hope Team McCain will fight as hard as Mrs. Clinton is fighting in her race.

Politics is a contact sport, and this is politics at its highest level. Big boy stuff. To quote another Democrat, in a different day (when Dems were made of sterner stuff): If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.

We're about to find out if He Whose Middle Name Shall Not Be Spoken can take the heat.

JMac -

First, I view disagreements as a healthy part of the overall growth in understanding the issues and choices facing us. I think overall the postings here have been very civil as compared to other sites that I read. I like the fact that so many post different ideas from time to time. I will not agree with many of them, but it does me good to hear them.

Don't get discouraged, I for one respect your position and unbridled support for Obama - it has helped me tremondously balance my impressions against other viewpoints.
