Nicely done

Kudos to Glenn Hills in Augusta for winning the Class AAA boys championship, the first in school history. My mom taught at Glenn Hills Elementary for some time, so it's good to see them having some success.

There were terrible when I was in high school.

Of course, as the article notes, my alma mater - Westside-Augusta - was the last Augusta-area boys team to win a state crown, doing so back in 1995. And, for the record, we would have rolled this Glenn Hills team.

The 1995 Regional semifinal between Westside and Thom(p)son, held in the Augusta State Athletic Complex (or whatever it's called), was definitely the greatest night of high school sports I've ever been priveledged to witness. That was fun.

Why?! Why?! Why do you guys always have to bring up the single greatest blah-bidy-blah game ever, the Thomson - Westside game?!!! I had baseball practice and couldn't get out of it and that game was probably the only one I missed, and still 13 years later I can't escape it! Damn you Coach Barnes!!!

Anyway, a little ways down the article did anyone else read this as 'Burt Reynolds':

"But Reynolds was able to fire the game ball into a rowdy Glenn Hills cheering section just seconds after the final buzzer. He jumped on the scorer's table and pounded his chest."

Well, that would have been considerably more awesome.

Truth be told, Westside basketball absolutely ruined my first year or so of Georgia basketball. When you keeping going 33-1 and being ranked nationally, it kinda puts a damper on your sub-par college days (thank you Ron Jirsa).
