More Nunn talk

The New Republic makes the case for Sam Nunn for vice-president, and I'm all aboard that train. He's my frontrunner for the VP slot, followed by Virginia Sen. Jim Webb, former Gen. James Jones and Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

Yes, please. I'm afraid he will not/would not take it, however.

Definitely an interesting pick - but my doubts include - his age and his lack of exposure over the past 13(!) years.

Does anyone outside of Georgia and hard core political aficionados know or care about Sam Nunn?

Well, the same could be said about Cheney. 8 years out of politics instead of 14, but clearly not a household name to the average voter in 2000.

I've always said Sam Nunn would be the one Democrat I would vote for. Not for VP, though.

No idea, though, why the government wouldn't go after a solid military man. That is Obama's weak point in most voter's eyes.

Good point, Erib, which is why I've always said VP doesn't matter, unless it hurts; it seldom if ever helps.

But the kook-fringe Left upon whom Dems depend will never sit still for Mr Don't Ask Don't Tell.

Strange election season we Democrats are having…I’ve been called a conservative for supporting Hillary and now the previous poster implies that I’m on the “kook-fringe left” for opposing Sam Nunn as Obama’s veep( Hillary will always have my heart and I think she deserves to be his running mate) based on his central role in the DADT policy. I myself tend to think of myself as a pragmatic Democrat…that is I am a man of the left, but not doctrinaire…The previous poster is right that Sam Nunn would be a red-line issue for many GLBT Americans and not just because of his support for DADT…The good Senator has a long and ignominious record on issues important to the GLBT community

So my vote for Obama and Nunn would not just be no, but hell no!
