Clarifications
The first comment on this story is grossly inaccurate. The funding for this project - a good one - comes from federal funds secured close to four years ago. It has no impact on the existing local budget.

Although I agree with your general assessment that the first comment poster is off base a little. I disagree with your assertion that this project has or will have no impact on the local budget. ACC staff currently working on this project are doing so at the expense of not working on other things - so there is an indirect cost (though I do support there efforts) plus once it is built there will be on-going maintenance required for the trail. I am sure that the grants won't cover that and the local funds have too. It would be interesting to know how much we spend a year on maintenance costs associated with the existing Greenway.
Point well taken, though I'd be curious to see how much time is actually being taken up by staff. It would assume they couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time, but, again, a fair point.
It's still real money being spent on a luxury. Let's not forget that, especially in this country's current economic situation.
