Seeing Red

I was just forwarded Red Petrovs's web site, and it's fairly comprehensive. Safe to say, however, that I think the more folks learn about Petrovs, the more folks will trend to Ed Robinson.

Though Petrovs touts pragmatism on his home page, there appears to be nothing pragmatic about his positions. In fact, most of his stances are somewhat contradictory. In his responses to Athens Grow Green's questionnaire, he noted that government should look to cut money by eliminating expenditures for consultants and mandating an across-the-board five percent spending cut.

But, at the same time, he's advocating for 'a marketing and PR campaign aimed at getting all students to read at grade level by the end of third grade' ... of course, guess who you'll hire to put together this plan? That's right, consultants. Plus, if we're decreasing spending across the board, it would seem to me that Petrovs is calling for new spending in an area that typically the local government doesn't venture into.
